In The Desert
This poem seems to be about a "man" who has endured a devastating loss. The word desert is used on the first line to maybe symbolize a hellish place. In the third line the narrator refers to the creature as "friend." This could just be a normal greeting depending on the time period or it could symbolize that the creature is the narrrator.
